Default Oil pressure

I have a 1998 chevy silverado k1500 5.7 vortec. The oil pressure is around 20 at idle and 40 at throttle is that normal? Or should it stay around 40?

You're fine. As long as it holds steady at those values, not say falling to zero at idle at times you are good to go.

My 99 is the same way. As long as you don't hear any knocking, you're golden
