Just got my 96 Chevy Silverado back from the mechanic. Had the main seal replaced and now the transmission jerks when it shifts from first to second. Mechanic said it needs to reset itself. Is this true or he feeding me line. He said he can do a quick reset on it. I've never heard of this before. Thanks.

electronic transmissions compensate for components as they wear. they do this by adaptive learning. the goal is to keep shift timing and feel correct as parts wear. its possible the trans module lost its adaptive learn setting when the battery was disconnected. a reset will bring all settings back to square one and it may take a few days of driving for the trans to relearn back to where it was b4 the repair. a quick learn procedure can be done on modern trans to complete this learning in one drive cycle. you trans is to old for quick learn.
