Why do all tbi engines have loud exhaust?
Why do they have a nociteably louder rumble than any other newer Chevy V8? Even stock mufflers seem to.
I can stand next to my 98 Tahoe running with stock muffler and I can't even hear it. Same on the highway, no "inside noise" whatsoever. It sounds and drives like a newer vehicle.
I have tinkered with TBI exhaust systems before trying to get it quiet like my Tahoe or the newer trucks, but even with the Walker SoundFX muffler it still has a mild Flowmaster like sound.
Here's the story - I now have a 1993 C3500 Crew cab (non dually) in absolutely cherry condition with 163k miles and the only thing it needs to pass inspection is a new muffler, the old one has rotted out making it sound loud, and with 4.10 gears in the rear running 2400 rpms at 70 it's quite annoying.
I'm looking for a muffler that is as dead quiet as possible I'm talking so quiet you can't even hear the damn thing running.
So far ive tried:
Walker sound fx
Various lengths of CherryBomb Glasspacks
Flowmaster 70
Any ideas guys?
