I just bought a 1996 chevy k1500 z81 camper package truck. It's got the 5.7 liter engine. I've done extensive research to see what the camper package entailed and really haven't found much of anything. Some have said it came with a beefier rear suspension (I only have 2 leaf springs on each side, it looks like it could accommodate one more leaf, maybe they're heavier duty springs? if so how do you tell?) larger alternator, larger battery etc. I know the back glass window does protrude out to meet with the camper installed as I would assume. I'm at a loss, I would assume that with a said z81 camper package it would be able to accommodate a slide in camper for far more than just 528lbs. Does anyone have any knowledge in this department? I'm really wanting to invest in a decent slide in camper if I can but right now from the looks of it may not be able to. What are your thoughts?
