1999 k2500 bent push rods
The engine in my k2500 (gen 6 454 big block) had really bad lifter tick and the push rods are bent, can I just replace the push rods and be on my way? The engine was ran for a while like this by the previous owner, what all else could have bad wear on it from running the engine so long? Thanks for the help!

Ok so I have these push rods and these lifters picked out. I have been researching for hours to try to find if the gen 6 454 used hydraulic lifters or mechanical and I cant seem to find it. These lifters are what the summit racing website said was compatible but I just wanna make sure you guys think its okay before I dump the big bucks on them. Thanks again

I've been doing tons more research and I guess there are 4 different types of lifters, hydraulic rollers, mechanical rollers, hydraulic flat tappet, and mechanical flat tappet lifters. Also I've found out that hydraulic rollers seem like the best option, but my question is, can I just slap those into my stock 454 with the push rods that I have picked out? Are the hydraulic rollers even compatible with my stock cam? What do you guys think about these ones?

If you should go with hydraulic lifters, and I would, old school, put them in a pan of oil that you are using in the engine, that way they don't have to prime when you crank it over. Set the rocker arms with both valves closed, or one closed at about .005" clearance. Also oil the top end with whatever oil you use, and subtract that amount from what it requires, i.e 5 qt, use 1 qt for the top end, and add the other 4.
