Anyone have a Tommy Gate on a GMT800 1500?
My friends had their 1994 C1500 pickup truck burn up due to an engine fire, and have offered me their Tommy Gate G2 series 1500 pound lift for my 2006 Silverado 1500 WT. Still reading documents from the Tommy Gate website, and thinking about it.
The biggest concern I see is that the install manual from TommyGate.com indicates that you can't use the factory hitch on a Silverado 1500, just there 2500 or 3500. Anyone have a Tommy Gate on a GMT800 series truck and care to comment on that? I actually have a U-haul receiver hitch mounted below the bumper, so not sure if it is lower than the factory receiver or not, but suspecting it will have to come off.
I don't really "need" it, but for free, even if I have to buy a $200 bracket kit to mount it to a GMT800 versus a GMT400 bed, having a 1500 lb lift gate seems kinda interesting, if you use your truck at all for hauling (I do).
Then again, been pondering selling this truck, and not sure having something like this on there will help or hurt resale.
Thanks.
