Center Link replacement?

Just curious if anyone has had to replace a center link on Silverado 1500. It doesn't seem like something that can "wear out" really.

Anything can wear out if not properly lubricated.

Right but I don't think there are any moving parts on the center link are there?

There are the joints where it connects to the other components.

Which all have a tapered fit with their own bearings...

Anyway... as near as I can tell, the center link is a solid piece of steel with holes for the idler, pitman, and inner tie rods. So I would think it would be unusual to need it replaced. I am replacing most of the steering including the gear box, idler arm with bracket, pitman arm, as well as inner and outer tie rods. I can spend another $100 (along with several more hours of labor) to replace the center link but I don't really know if it is necessary.

In your case you are right, but not all center links have 4 holes. Some have ball joints on the ends.
