Default Disable automatic lights??

Hi, I own a 1999 Silverado 4.8l 1500 Z71 4x4 NBS, what I'm wondering if there's a way to completely disable the automatic lights so I can have full control of turning on/off the headlights. At the moment the lights stay on constantly, I've seen people say pressing the dome overide button 4 times will make a chime and the headlights turn off, but unfortunately it doesn't work for my vehicle. I don't want to replace the ambiant light switch on the dash because I don't want the automatic function, I would just like full control of the headlights. If anyone knows a solution I'd appreciate sharing the knowledge. Thanks .

My 1998 K-1500 will shut off the DRL's simply by clicking the E-Brake pedal by one click. Not enough to activate the E-Brakes at all. Might be the same for your 1999.

I think that worked on my 2000 still.

I'm bothered by the fact the dome override won't shut yours off. You have to do it fairly quickly, but even then you'll have to hit that every time you start your truck. Or you can fix the ambient light sensor, and that should shut them off during the day, but at night you would have to do the dome override to shut them off in the dark while it's running.
