Extremely Mysterious and Frustrating Problem
Hey y'all, this is my first post on the forum so please excuse any undue ignorance. I will try to be descriptive and specific in order to provide as many details and as much contextual information as possible.
I have a 2000 Chevy k3500 with the 5.7 vortec and have recently begun experiencing a mystifying problem. The first sign of a problem was appearing to run out of fuel at one quarter tank. This was easily resolved by adding fuel and driving home. The second time I experienced an issue was after I had filled my tank and drove on the highway at approximately 65-70 MPH. I experienced severe power loss and just barely made it off the exit before the truck died on the side of the road. It started up the next morning and ran fine, all the way home which is about 2.5 miles from the off-ramp. Since then the truck will start cold wonderfully and operate seamlessly for 3 to 5 mi before dying suddenly. Once it dies it will not restart until it has had time to cool down for approximately 4 to 8 hours.
Things I have replaced:
-Fuel pump
-Fuel Filter
-Distributor cap and rotor
-Engine Coolant Temp Sensor
-Ignition Control Module
-Camshaft position sensor
-Ignition coil
The truck died going uphill recently and was able to start soon after on a level surface. Interestingly, it seems to not have spark when it dies which is the reasoning for replacing the electrical components.
Any help would be much appreciated and I'm happy to join the community!
-Jed
Edit: there is no check engine light on the dashboard
