Camshaft Sensor location
I have a 2009 2500 HD. I took it to the shop after it died on me and they diagnosed that it needed (among other things) a new camshaft sensor. Since I don't have $1000 for repairs right now, I decided to take a crack at it. The other repairs are easy, but I can't for the life of me find where the camshaft sensor is. From what I've researched, I understand that it is on the back of the block, but I don't see it in any pictures or videos I am looking at and I can't see it on my engine. I see it on this exploded view, but I am still not finding it on the engine.

I was told and have heard in videos that you do not have to remove the intake manifold to change it, but I'm stumped. Does anyone have an actual picture or any insight into this. Thanks for the help!

LY6 is a 6.0L engine. Is that what you have? What's the VIN?
The diagram you posted is a 5.3L engine for a 1/2 ton 1500 van. HD pickups never came with this engine.

Here try this diagram instead (hint, the sensor is on the front)

What is the issue you're having?
Make sure you check all the wires and connectors before shooting parts at it.

Thank thank you for that diagram! I had figured out that it was on the front after doing a little more research. But that helps a lot. I'm trying to get it off now. The issue I was having was that it was revving High into the 3000 RPM range, but I was losing speed. It was running really rough and then it died on me. While I was waiting for the tow truck, it wouldn't start. But by the time the tow truck got there a couple hours later it started right up and I was able to drive it to the shop. They said that it needed the cam shaft sensor and that the wiring was bad too. So you're suspicion of the wiring is totally valid. I'm planning on replacing the wiring on that harness and seeing if that will hopefully fix it. They said that one of the wires was arcing and causing it to have the problems that that I was having. They said that when it cooled off it wouldn't art but when it heated it up it would arc and that was the cause of it running so rough and dying on me.
