Default hard starting

HI

I have a 2003 Avalanche Z71. whats been happening is that when temps get cold ( 0 Celsius or lower)and when i go to start up the truck for the first of the day, it almost stalls then it revs back then almost stalls again..it does this until the engine starts to warm up and it will stabilize itself. the colder it gets (below minus 10 Celsius) it will stall unless i keep my foot on the gas pedal keep the rpm's up to about 2000. it doesn't do this when its warm outside. Any idea's or help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

hard to say over the internet...could be as simple as an IAT or MAF sensor up to a vacuum leak
