90 Beretta starts and stalls after 2 sec
1990 Berretta 2.2 starts, but shuts off right away. It will do this repeatedly. The injector sprays briefly and stops. It will keep running if starting fluid is sprayed in the throttle body. I replaced the fuel pump and the crank sensor. A test light shows the injector has a pulse. The fuel pump pressure is about 40#.
Any ideas why it won't stay running.

I forgot to mention that i swapped the fuel pump relay with the one beside it and had the same results. So, I think the relay is ok.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

has the oil pressure gauge quit working? the ignition and fuel system are tied into the oil pressure sending unit. this is a fail safe in case engine should lose oil pressure, it cuts the fuel delivery so further engine damage does not occur. low oil level, bad sending unit, messed up wires could cause the fuel to shut off after the 2 second relay.

I think you may have something with the oil presure. I was setting here earlier thinking , and remembered reading in the fuel pump instructions that if the oil presure sensor isn't working the fuel pump will not work. I forgot about reading that little foot note. I will check out the oil presure tomorrow, and hopefully that will solve the problem. I guessing I can spray the throttle body with starting fluid and watch the oil presure gauge to see if it has a reading.
Any testing ideas are greatly welcome!!
Thanks for your help

Well the oil sending unit didn't solve the problem. Trying to figure what to do next we made the fuel pump run continually. That focre gas all the way to the injector, but it made no difference. It still shut down after 2 sec. The injector is pulsing only once then it dies. Could the injector be bad or is something else making it shut down?

90 Beretta starts and stalls after 2 sec
I finally figured out what the problem was. We hot wired the fuel pump so it couldn't shut down, and still had the same issue. So everything was working fuel, pulse, but stillit wouldn't stay running. So. that said to us it was the injector that was failing. It was only giving one squart of fuel and stopping. I got an injector from a scarp yard and that fixed the problem.
