This could be a movie: fear, danger, action
Greetings,
I am about to embark upon a journey of frustration and pain, and possible success. My 1990 Lumina sedan, 3.1L, A/C, 196,000 kms,...needs an intake manifold gasket job and I've never done one yet. My ignorance in this is tempered by my meticulous process in taking things apart and therefore, I am of medium confidence.
My understanding is that there are two gaskets here, upper and lower, to the intake manifold. Is the sealant, 'RV-something', used instead of gaskets or WITH them? I will pick up a manual but has anyone done this and can warn me about some aspect of the job.
I will photograph every step and upload them with descriptives of the process, if it works out. (If I blow it, forget it.)
Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
