Default 83 Z28 Question..

Hello all, I am the owner of a 1983 Z28 Camaro. Five Speed, 305HO 4barrell. I had a few questions regarding this car, and this year. I know that they put the L69 motors into some of the cars, mine I believe being one of them. However...there are some things that don't add up. My car has the fiberglass hood, and the dual air intake under the hood. I have also had several people drive it, Chevy Dealership and a few other Chevy Enthusiasts who only work on 305 and 350's. They have all stated that this is the stoutest 305 that they have ever driven, or worked on. There isn't a cam, engine is totally stock. Dyno'd at 240HP, which the regular 305 did not have. Was there a mix up in the VIN's that year, my VIN doesn't match the cars that supposedly have the L69 motor, but everything else seems to be adding up to the fact that it does.Does anyone know anything regarding this particular question with this car?

(I'm also looking to sell it...12MPG isn't working out well for a 21 year old just starting his career)

Thanks!

Feel free to reply here or e-mail me at skitzo_inc@hotmail.com regarding this car.

Check the block numbers to see if they match any of the L69 serials. Someone may have switched the engine out and didn't realize what they had. Then again, you may have a 305 that a previous owner could have rebuilt, which in most cases, a rebuild involves oversized pistons / rings, valve work, and such. If the car is that cherry, you should keep it and get a rice burner.

So I just checked the engine block and looked up the numbers...looks like I got myself an L69 original motor car, just with the wrong VIN's. Engine has never been rebuilt, and all in all I think that I got a nice car for 900 bucks. 90K original miles and everything is nice...just gonna get it repainted and interior redone, all original. Thanks for the help!

(Car is no longer for sale...by the way ;-)

The car has the wrong VIN number to match the L69 Engine, then someone has obviously changed the engine out and pur the L69 engine in a non issued car. sounds like they knew what they were doing. congrats. i got an '85 camaro i am trying to get done. and a 1970 C10.
