Default Low budget 350 Power boost

Hey everyone

I have a '79 sbc 350 in my camaro, and im looking to bolster the horrible 170 hp that it cranks out. I have a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet, a set of headers, and everything else is stock as far as i know. I've heard that the best thing for these cars is a set of vortec heads, and a new cam and intake manifold to match. I'm looking to get more power out of this engine for as little money as i can, because, frankly put, I'm a sixteen year old without a steady job, and not much money. From what i have seen, vortec heads and a new intake manifold would cost no less than a grand, and i would still have to get a cam. I recently saw a 327 sbc being parted out. The 327 was out of a '69 chev biscanye. The guy wanted $200 for the whole car, so i could probably get the heads for next to nothing, but I'm wondering if the heads would even fit. Another option i was thinking about is getting the stock heads worked on, and using a new cam with them. I'm really not looking for a drag car, i just want a hp number that won't get me laughed at. I'm open to any cheap ways to get this engine to crank out a little more power.
Let me know what you guys all think.
P.S. Turbochargers are cool, maybe i should just get an electric turbo and be done with it?

Sounds like your in for a world of fun putting that together. One thing you should know is that your going to rip your transmission apart in probably a day or two putting extra power on it. Just a little advice before you break everything apart
