On the two vehicles I have with MyLink radios, when I bluetooth sync my phone to the radio, it automatically downloads the phone book from the phone to the radio, and I'm able to dial calls from the radio touch-screen. If you create new phone numbers in your smart-phone, they will automatically be transferred to your radio when you sync the radio to the phone.
I have android phones, and when you first sync them, you get a message on the phone asking for permission to transfer the phone book to the radio. You must allow it, and there is an option to not ask permission in the future that you should check, that way, it will load your phone book every time you get into the car without you taking your phone out of your pocket.
I'm not sure how it works with iPhones.
