Shocks 1991 Caprice
After re-splicing the right front ABS cable , I started replacing the the shocks . Starting with the right front , of course .
The seal around the shock piston , on all 4 shocks had gone bad with age & non-use .
The front shocks were pretty easy .
The bottom part of the rear shocks were pretty easy . Used my cheapo Harbor freight electric impact wrench .
The top 2 bolts and nuts were a very large pain . With the car jacked up high enough ( with jack stands ) to get my fat bod under neath the car , it was almost further than I could reach .
I ended up having to hold the nuts on top with a combination wrench and my cousin used a ratchet with extensions , on the bolts ( on the bottom side ) .
I had previously ordered all 4 shocks from RockAuto.com . Even with shipping cost , they were less than 1/2 what I could find them any where else . Either locally or on line .
The new shocks helped . :-)
Next thing is , the tires have very fue miles on them , But are bad . Weather / sunlight cracking . :-(
Being cheap , it burns me to have to replace them . But I will before I eventually put the car back into service .
God bless
