The ICM is powered through the 20A IGN fuse. It's responsible for producing spark through the 1-4 ignition coil and 2-3 ignition coil. It need the CKP sensor input to determine which coil to energize. If you're sure your problem is the lack of spark, the above are some of the things that come into play.

It should be right next to the ICM. It takes an electrical connector with two wires, YEL and PPL. It's a Hall effect sensor that generates weak voltage pulses as the engine turns over. Do you have a multimeter that can do O-scope?

I checked for spark at the end of the plug leads (no spark), checked voltage at the module (12.4V), trying to check the crank shaft sensor were it was located seemed ugly so I spent $12 and changed it, still no spark.

No spark at any of the plugs? It's hard to believe both coil packs went bad all of a sudden but anything is possible. I simplified the role of the ICM but it actually send the CKP sensor information to the PCM and gets the spark timing signals in return. Is the PCM powered, i.e., 10A CLS/PCM fuse and 10A PCM/IGN fuse in the fuse block and 10A PCM fuse under the hood okay and has power with key on?
