Question Speedometer Problem

I recently got a cavalier, we had three choices in the beginning for what was causing the problem with the speedometer not reading at all. We narrowed it down to one, we think the chip on the computer is a problem.

Now, I'm not sure, I'm miles away from my car while my dad tries to fix it and thats what he has come up with.

I wanted to know if there's an external speedometer i could get as a short-term solution. I see alot for sell online, but nothing gives a description about how they work, or for any one type of car.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Grymm

It's going to tap in to your wheel speed sensor. What exactly is the issue? Sounds like you guys may be jumping to conclusions.
