1985 Silverado Info
I was just given this by a friend. He inherited it and it sat in his driveway and was never touched. Title is coming but I have no info besides the year. Can anyone look at pics and tell anything about it. Engine? Basics?

I'm here for the party
yup i think it has an engine and maybe a transmission. truth is you can more by the vin than by pics. welcome from maryland, also check out 73-87chevytrucks.com. its another great website (im on both) and pretty much you can find anything you want to between these two sites

Very nice truck same colour but much better condition then my '86
I'd buy yours in a minute if we were closer and you were selling .....ehehe
VIN's are good to decipher , but often older trucks don't have the original engine
tough even with the minimal pictures it does look like the 350 they came with
Often on the fan shroud if there's still a sticker it will say what the original engine was
If it's been sitting that long you may need to go through a few tanks of gas to use up all the
old gas in the system , a can of carb cleaner will also help to clean out the carb and
possibly blow out some deposits on the valves
I would replace the wires , ditributor cap and rotor and if there's a lot of miles on the engine
possibbly the whole distributor since it's so easy to remove and replace
There's so much room in that engine bay I can sit in there with my feet on the inner fenders and work
on anything comfortably
I spent $100 a few years back for a new ditributor , wires, cap and rotor
I usually get 4-5 red distributor caps with brass posts for all of my carburated GM V8s
at car swap meets for $10 each
.
Of course after checking the breaks and break lines , a good grease job on the front end will keep parts from
wearing out prematurely ....... if they are not already worn
These are all simple things that require few tools , little money and are easy to do on most pre '90 GM vehicles
