Did you put gears in your truck to get the 4.10 ratio? Was it a big deal to do and about how much? I have a 2006 Colorado only 20000miiles and have 18's on it with BFG tires. All i have done is tighten the torsion bars a little and put a longer shackle in the back to raise the rear of the vehile to the front. I have terrible luck on gas mileage. I get the best is 16.5 and i have but in a K&N Charger Kit and a Throttle body spacer and Magnaflow duals with high flow cats. I dont know what else to do to get good gas mileage?

I have the 2005 I5 3.5ltr 4x4 regular cab. I have the factory tanau (not sure if that's spelled correct) cover but I doubt it does much.

Anyway, I usually drive 90% highway with it and have gottenan average26mpg over 50,000 miles. That's using synthetic oil every single time and only using 93 octane gas. I don't have a lead foot either. The whole truck is still factory spec. No special intakes or mufflers.

I agree with the other gentleman here... I'm not a fan of the tires either. I think I'll put Toyo's on there when they need changing.

I have an 04 Colo, 4x4 crew cab, auto, with tow pkg. It has 85K but runs great -engine idles and runs like brand new. I have tires properly inflated, new air filter, good driving habits (no excessive idling, not running the AC, etc.), but I can't seem to get better than about 16 mpg (with about 80% in town and 20% highway mix of driving). Any suggestions for improving? Thanks

ps: also CD player jammed (6 cd changer)can't get cds to eject anymore (or play). Of course GM won't help. And other: discovered that NAPA brake pads and shoes don;t work too well on that model.

Of course check the obvious. Air pressure in the tires, make sure the spark plugs are gapped properly and seated, clean air filter, no grooved rotors, regular oil changes with new oil filter.

I'm new to the Forum and apologize for inserting a Blazer question in the Colorado section but as far as I understand, I can't start a thread and, as much as I've tried, I've not found any questions about Blazer gas mileage.

My problem is a 1997 4WD Blazer with a Vortec 4.3 V6. I've had the injectors cleaned, the plugs/cap changed, proper tire inflation, no speeding and still end up with about 10 mpg in the city and 13 on the highway, in 2WD. The GMC dealer here says that that is what I can expect for an old vehicle. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
