Piston Slap???
New today to this forum!
Been on other chevy forums and want to ask this one about possible piston slap. I have a 2000FRC Corvette 26,000 miles. Upon start up there is no ticking. One minute later I hear alot of ticking noise. It goes away when the engine reaches operating temperature. Stop the engine andrestart a few minutes later the ticking returns, and goes away 30 seconds or so later. Any ideas? What is the fix? All the dealerships say this does not hurt the engine any and to just let it alone. Its embarrassing to say the least. Any help ideas are much appreciated.

RE: Piston Slap???
Are you aware you're in the Silverado section of the forums? The "tick" may be caused by heat buildup prior to engine oil properly circulating, and in any event it's probably better if you leave it alone. Concentrate on things you can control, like regular oil changes and proper tire inflation.

Centurian: You might have a lifter that's leaking down when the engine is off and takes some time to pump back up. More of an annoyance than a problem unless it starts to take longer to pump up.
