Default 05 equinox lower ball joint


When I stop and then go again it clunks back like something is moving back and forth. I cannot figure out whats doing it! Any ideas?? Does ball joint look bent?

That ball joint looks fine to me, but that doesn't mean it's not worn out.

I would suspect worn ball joints or a bad top passenger's side engine mount. When it wears out, it lets the motor pivot more than it should and puts more stress on the other engine/trans mounts. Look for cracks in the rubber and/or hydraulic fluid underneath it on the metal frame that the mount bolts to. The mount is filled with fluid that will leak out if the sealed hydraulic chamber is breached.

I had to replace that mount on our Equinox a couple years ago. I recommend the OEM mount (p/n 25979189), but if I had to go aftermarket I would use a DEA or Pioneer. Do NOT use an Anchor brand mount. They are trash.
