2005 Equinox with codes P0733 and P0734 HELP!!!
So this car has been nothing but problems from the day that I got it. But, recently this is the one that I am having to deal with. The other day I was driving the car and then it bucked and stalled out. When I restarted it, it would not go extreme loss of engine power and it would keep stalling out. Had it towed to the chevy dealer and they told me that is was pulling these codes. They stated that it was tranny related and that were going to do more testing. They then told me that they were going to call the GM Experts and have them look at the data and the GM Expert told them that it is not the tranny but an engine issue. Maybe the TPS is bad or there is a bad sensor. So, I am at a loss of words when even the dealership can not determine what the problem is. Does anyone know how to change the TPS? Also, can you get just the sensor or do you need to buy the whole Throttle Body? Is this even the fix?? Has anyone had this problem and what was it that you fixed. My husband did say that it my be something with the Torque Converter.

Welcome to the forum. I think you misunderstood the TPS. P0733 (Gear 3 ratio fault) and P0734 (Gear 4 ratio fault) means the input speed/output speed ratios didn't agree with the commanded gears. They need to check the input speed sensor and output speed sensor on the transmission and the sensor wiring to the TCM. If they are suspecting the TPS, maybe they're seeing something they aren't telling.

@einst. thank you so much for the information. I will look into this. Do you know if the codes would come up for the speed sensor? I did not get any TPS codes either and I was told that if there was a problem with the TPS then I would get the code for it. It felt like and acted like something forced the Torque Converter to get stuck, but again there are no codes that are coming out that are pin pointing what the problem is.

You have a couple of things working against you. Not all OBD scanners will read all the trouble codes from all subsystems and the codes themselves represent only what can be detected as illogical/nonsensical. It needs an experienced diagnostician with proper equipment to figure out what's failed based on the codes, freeze frame data, and failure symptoms.
