Default 2005 FWD Equinox transmission filter

I have never changed the fluid on our 2005 Equinox. I found a similar post in which one of you posted how to change the fluid, but is it necessary to change filter as well? I am stationed in Korea, so I have to order all my parts from the States, so I ordered a new filter, pan gasket, and replacement drain plug, just in case. I normally pay for work to be done at our garage on base, but the mechanics are local nationals and not always familiar with US cars. Can someone provide the breakdown on what I have to do (I'll have to translate to the mechanic). I have 95K miles and I need the car to last at least a few more years. What preventive maintenance measures should I conduct. Thanks in advance.

The filter can't be changed without disassembling the transmission. Because of this, a new pan gasket is not necessary. All you can do is drain ~4.3 qts of fluid by removing the drain plug and replenish it with the correct fluid.
