Default 2014 Equinox not starting

Yesterday the car wouldnt start. Turn the key on and everything comes on. Blower, lights, etc. But no actual cranking when you put it to run, just a quite thud near the starter.
Battery showing 12.2volts, hooked up jumpers and showing 12.5-12.6 but same noise, that low thud.
checked fuses and they all are good, the 30amp ign fuse is the main one i looked at.
seen a video on jumping the starter relay with a jump wire, tried this and the starter cranked like it should... with that video it pointed to the relay, because it wouldnt crank with the relay, and would crank without the relay... so i replaced the relay, but same issue, that low thud near the starter.
battery connections tight, and surprisingly no corrosion.

At a loss, next step was to drop it at the mechanics shop, but im hoping to avoid that bill!!
Any input is greatly appreciated!!!!

It appears to not getting the correct signal from the key switch to start. Check the key switch and the wiring to the fuse box from the switch as a first step.
