Equinox A/C quit..add to list of problems...but how hard to replace???

We have owned this vehicle since new and everything but oil changes/tires has been done by the dealer

2005 Equinox had been blowing cool air at times. It was taken to a dealer and they said the pressure was weak and wanted to sell me a new compressor for $1200. We couldn't afford it at the time but now the air has gotten warmer.

How hard is it to replace the compressor? I have replaced them on trucks where the compressor was easy to get to.

This adds to a list that the dealer has fixed...

Fuel pump
head gaskets
carrier bearing for driveshaft
water leaking around spare tire

All these have been pricey repairs and I really can't spend another $1200 for AC.

Larry, 2005 Equinox compressor is actually a Ford Scroll compressor and is real easy to fix . You need to change the control valve in it. Read this forum for the how-to on it .
