Default Headlight Sensor - Ring Car Cam

I recently installed a Ring Car Cam on the dashboard of my 2019 Equinox. I wanted the arm of the device centered so I placed it in the center, right over the headlight sensor. The camera installs with an arm that pushes into the gap between the dashboard and the windshield. The arm sits about 4 or 5 inches above the sensor. On sunny days the arm causes a shadow over the sensor. However sun or cloudy I don't think the arm affects the sensor. I was tempted to try to move it off center but it is stuck firmly to the inside glass. Should I try to move it even though I don't think the arm is affecting the function of the headlight sensor?

as long as the auto headlights are coming on at dusk and shutting off at daylight, the ambient light sensor is working normally.
