Question High speed traction control - check engine problem

2009 Equinox LT, 81182 miles, 3400 engine, FWD

After running approximately 190 miles at 75 to 80 MPH the service traction control fault light turns on. About 10 minutes later the check engine light turns on. The engine runs fine - no loss of power and stays steady at 2400 RPM. Fuel economy about 26.5 MPG. After 2 or 3 drive cycles around town (less than 60 MPH) the fault lights turn off and no problem until next trip.

Here's the history
1 month ago on the way to Abq - had lights turn on - 2 or 3 drive cycles later all lights turn off
On the way home from Abq - same fault lights - 2 or 3 drive cycles later all lights turn off

checked master cylinder and added some brake fluid because these are still factory brakes so there is pad wear.

This last weekend on the way to Durango same problem after 190 miles and then lights reset after 2 or 3 drive cycles.
Same problem on the way home and then lights reset after 2 drive cycles today, Tuesday.
Had Autozone check codes on Monday 2 Sept
P1779, P0404 EGR, P0446 EVAP problem and P0171 lean on 1 bank.

I am thinking of doing the following:
drain transmission fluid even though there is < 100k miles
pull EGR and clean. install EGR gasket/screen combination AutoZone p/n 47007

Any other ideas besides moving to an area where the speed limit is a stifling 65 MPH?

I would definitely do the transmission fluid change soon. I don't believe it will fix anything, but 50,000 mile change intervals are a good idea with the Aisin 5-speed auto. Be sure to use the correct transmission fluid - read: it does NOT use Dexron VI.

I would replace the EGR valve. Don't install a gasket with a screen. It is not necessary, and just adds another place for carbon to build up. I would also double check your air intake hose for leaks, and make sure all the clamps are tight. Also, check the fitting for the brake booster vacuum hose located in the middle of the intake plenum and make sure it is tight. It has come loose on ours a couple times before I applied RTV silicone to the threads.

Thanks for the reply.. in this part of Texas it is nothing for a 10 year old vehicle to have 180 -> 200 k miles. My wife's 09 Silverado just hit 19 k miles, maybe I should swap with her.
