Loud clunk when backing
Hello to all,
I’ve been searching over the Internet, checking out forums and experts but I still can’t find the cause of my problem , I own a 2007 Automatic AWD Equinox LT and have a couple of problems with it.
I’ve taken it to the shop a couple of times and the answer is that is a “normal sound” because of the way AWD works on the Equinox, I find it hard to believe that the really loud clunk and bump is the way that AWD engages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- The most noticeable is when I’m backing out from my driveway while turning the wheel; it reaches a point where the vehicle completely stops, if I continue to accelerate I hear a loud clunk and a sort of a bump (like if hitting another car) before it continues.
- The second problem is when making a sharp U/O-turn, again the vehicle kind of stops and I begin to hear the tires skid.
