Default Why is my Equinox overheating (panels and engine bar) after it turns off

I have a 2018 Equinox. Recently, I started to smell a burning smell after I turned off the car. I then noticed the front side panels near the hood gap became really hot after a couple minutes (not initially). I opened the hood and discovered the body frame and crossbar under the hood was really hot. The engine itself never go too hot according to the gauge in the dash. This happens consistently whether or not I run the air conditioning and even I only drive the car less than 20 minutes. If I open the hood, the crossbar and side panel cools down within 20 minutes. My thoughts are a grounding issue or heat transfer from the unibody set-up. Called the dealer and they were not helpful. Any thoughts?
