1998 GMC savana (no start) leaning toward vcm
Hello, I have a 98 savanna and it's been sitting for awhile and went ahead and decided to get her running. I knew the pump was bad and went ahead and replaced that. Drained the tank and put some fresh gas in her along with a new battery. Won't start and while cycling the ignition key the service engine soon and check gauges light no longer illuminate like they used to during startup. Took the vcm out and it looks rather corroded. What do you guys think?

Maybe. Or it's just not getting power. Check connections, fuses etc.

If the connectors are corroded, then you should clean them up.

One of the things I tried was pulling the harness plugs out of the computer and blew air at the connections to remove corrosion dust and whatnot but the terminals look clean and everything but it almost looks like corrosion has got inside the computer. After this I plugged it back in and still have the same issue.

I would be quite surprised if corrosion got inside. They are very rugged units with multiple layers of protection, and it doesn't really get exposed to weather.
I would get a wiring diagram and a voltmeter (or just a bulb) and start testing that the electrons are where they need to be, starting with the ignition circuit.
