2007 Chevrolet Express 2500, ENGINE SWAP! 6.0L to 4.8L compatibility?

Hello,
I have a 2007 Chevy Express 2500 with a 6.0l vortec engine. After about a year of purchase the engine has been confirmed to have low oil pressure. I have a 4.8L spare engine from another van... the engine is from a similar Chevrolet Express 2500 van, year is also 2007. Have engine harness, all wiring, ECU from 4.8L engine
Side by side the blocks and everything looks the same. Does anyone have any information or experience as to the compatibility. If the blocks are the same, I can just swap the 4.8L in and all the harnesses/wiring then reflash the ECU?
Starting to remove the 6.0L this week. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Certain engines are only compatible to certain transmissions so you might want to check the transmissions to both and make sure they are the same model and number. Same when you go to flash the PCM not ECU and put in your new drive ratios and etc. If the PCM is not calibrated for the new engine and transmission it is not going to like what it sees and you will not be able to turn the engine over. Do you have any idea what the transmissions are to each of those vehicles? You are going to have to use the other transmission from the van as well if they are not the same make and match.

PCM, my bad sorry. To my knowledge there is the 4L60-E which is used in the 1500's and then the 2500/3500 (cause 6.0L comes in 2500 vans as well) they had the 4L80-E transmission for the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 until 2009/2010 when they built the 6 speed to replace the 4 speed. I will check what number the 4L80-E transmission has and report back.

How many miles on the 6 litre? I ask because I had low oil pressure a bit on my vortec, and noticed an improvement by switching to high mileage oil. You could also check the oil pump. Maybe en engine swap is not needed......

Yeah if both the transmission and engine are a match then you have no problems all you will have to do is re flash the PCM with the new drive ratios and for your make and model of vehicles with any other accessories you may have on the vehicle. If you have the software and tool it is much easier and cheaper to do yourself. I would stay with with the PCM you have and just put in the new drive ratios and that to ensure it will run correctly. One small mistake can lead to a no start or bad problems down the road for your engine and transmission.
