Default 2010 Express 2500 4.8, or 4.3. ltr fuel pump not running. Pump is new.

I put a new fuel pump on my van today. It stopped running yesterday. Still did not start. I ran a wire from the battery straight to grey wire on pump. Started and ran fine. Removed wire, died after fuel ran out of lines. I checked relay, it clicks when you turn on key. Any idea what to check? Just wanted to ask, what if I ran a fused toggle switch to grey wire, to run it off of> Fuse is good. While wire is hooked to grey wire at pump, it runs perfectly. I just had 2 heart attacks, and kind of running thin on money to repair. Thank you. Mike Haley MHaley57@aol.com

Just because the relay clicks, it doesn't mean the contacts are good. Check it with a meter.

Thank you. I switched with other relays in fuse box. No difference. How would I check with meter?

Not the easiest test to accomplish. Basically, using alligator clip leads, you need to make it click, and then test for continuity. But it's likely not bad, if you swapped it with no change. Have you checked for a fuse? I don't know if it's under the hood or under the drivers seat, but there should be one.

Hey Mike,

I hope you have already found the resolution to your issue.
The fuse for the fuel pump is #24 in the engine compartment fuse box.

I have the same vehicle and my fuel pump went out as well (very low mileage I might add!, has me cursing ethanol!)
It was a difficult job (at least to me) I almost put in a hatch so that when it happens again I wont have to drop out the gas tank.

Anyway,
I hope you are back up and running now
