2010 Express 3500 Passenger Paint peeling off
#32
we don’t know exactly when it started to peel but I think towards the end of last year. The picture I added early is what happened when they removed the painters tape after they had painted the drivers back panel and front fender. I don’t think that painters tape should be taking off the paint like that. I ended up having hem remove all the paint and primer Dow to the metal. They even went back and removed the paint that they had put on because they didn’t even trust the Chevy’s primer. All said and done, I will never, ever buy a Chevy or GM vehicle again because they said all the paint problems were caused by a rock hitting it. That seems the go to answer they give people with this problem.
The van I am looking at does not have pain t issues now but it sounds like it can happen at any point so I will pass and look for any other color but white.

- ALL years are affected although the effects appear to be random in severity.
- It has NEVER been addressed... you see them only one or two years old with the paint peeling.

Update January 2024 after a cold spell
My paint saga continues since it reduced the van to nearly no trade in value. I still have the van. All panels, doors, roof, etc peeling. This is some before shots. Right before I rolled on White Gloss Rustoleum. I didn't even bother sanding or feathering. So over it. I just continue advertising GMs fine product.
I told them they would lose a lifelong GM buyer. There is a new (new when I bought it) Mercedes Sprinter van parked in the drive next to it.

Did you ever inquire about the cost of repaint?
How are you liking the Sprinter?

Bad Paint lead me to the Sprinter
GM spot repaired due to my Corporate complaint at about 4 years old. It looked beautiful. I should have dumped it in that time frame.
It started peeling again at 5 years + 1 month. They wouldn't honor the repair or any further help. It only gets worse. No rust because I am in Las Vegas. But it comes off in big sheets every real cold spell.
I have had estimates to remove the glass, etc. Chem strip and repaint $10K. Even half that doesn't interest me at this point. The first thing major that fails I will be done with it.
Love the Sprinter so far. Its a 2019. The paint is staying on it so far. LOL. I did a DIY conversion on it. Shower/Toilet, solar, fridge and a lot more. Its a high top so I can stand in it too.
