I just got a 2013 with a 6.0 Plenty of power but the computer just over regulates it. Fuel mileage is better than my old 5.7

I guess it all depends on how much weight you will be carrying.

the mileage is better than the 5.7 that is good we have the 5.7 now and only get if we are lucky 10 mpg . what are you getting with the 6.0 ? we will be hauling flooring materials and towing a 24 ft car trailer.

I haven't checked the exact mileage yet, but it has to be in the mid teens.

Sounds heavy, definetly do your homework on payload and trailering. Its not so much the engine but rather braking and suspension. Might want to consider a one ton van, unless your numbers show to be within payload. You can get the smaller v8 with the 3500 too.

I like the 6.0, but the delay in the throttle and torque management really sucks. Do some test driving...

My 95 2500 with the 5.7 got 13 mpg city/hwy, my 2002 2500 with the 5.7 gets 13 mpg city /15 hwy.....
The only thing bad I can say about the new engines is they are very expensive to fix, and there are not thousands out there to pick up at a wrecker if you need one.
If you include that in your calculations, the 5.7 is way cheaper to own in the long run....

my '06 with the 6.0l averages about 13-14 which is good for that van from what I hear. But I only have the 3.73 gears. So mine is not really geared towards heaving hauling, more so for daily driving. If you get one with the tow package setup for hauling, I would guess you would be in the 10 range.

The 4.8 would probably be in the mid teens, but won't be as good pulling and towing. So it is definitely a tradeoff. I love my 6.0l though.

The new vans only have the one 3.42 unless it changes with the tow package from what I see on the build it page of chevy.

3.73 gears is the tow package set. 3.42 is longer and more for economy. If you have the 3.73 then you are geared for hauling.

I thought most of the tow package ones came with 4.10's. I think my van is rated for about 7700lbs towing, and the 4.10's are 9700 or something like that.
