96' Express 1500 engine mods??
I have a 96' Express conversion van...5.0L. Im not a gear head but i would like to get some additional pick up from the van...its well...slow lol, especially with the AC running...and i was wondering if there are any of you who have done any upgrades to help give it some extra pick up.
And while i know extra pick up and better MPG dont usually mix..any tips that may help the poor 14 MPG slug get a little more distance would be appreciated.
Thanks all for any help or pointing me in the right direction.

I have the 5.7 and dont find it slow. Its almost 6000 lbs remember.....lol
You could try a performance air filter, and swapping out the factory muffler. I noticed a bit of oomph when I did my exhaust.
I would not mess with the engine since its so hard to work on......
Also tune yours up. Maybe it not running perfectly.

Tune up as mentioned, synthetic oil, exhaust, air filter, etc.
I have noticed improvements with new differential fluid and trans fluid.
Make sure cat isn't getting plugged up. Could get a high flow cat with the performance exhaust.. there are mufflers for vans/suvs that don't resonate.
Lastly clean fuel injectors.
