brake light stays on
I own a 2001 Chevy Express 1500 LS 5.0 and the dash brake light stays on. I have replaced the master cylinder, front and rear brakes brake light switch and emergency brake switch over time. The light came on a couple weeks ago and it seems that after you stop the brakes are grabbing and it shifts a little differently. Any thoughts??

most modern vehicles are equipped with three types of brake warning lights; one for if the parking brake is engaged (usually red or yellow), one if there is a problem with the anti-lock braking system (usually yellow), and one for the brakes themselves, which is red and could be an indication of a serious problem if it illuminates.
So the question is do you know which light is on in your case ?

Normally the emergency brake releases no problem and when the light did come on if I released the emergency brake the light would go off. The ABS light does not come on so I have no clue. The front brakes were replaced and the wheel bearings re-packed so when I started driving it the red brake light came on. Could a wheel speed sensor cause this kind of problem?

I 2nd the vote. The combination valve or as some people call it the cross over valve. If you bled the brakes you may have made the piston in that valve get way off center. Try bleeding one side vigorously then check the light. Then bleed the other side and check the light. Sounds like you might have air in the lines.

ANY updates... on the brake light issue ?
if you have to bleed that brakes again have a suggestion..
for the air in the proportioning valve I take it that you did not use a PV tool
for the valve assembly when you bled the brakes.. if not then you more than likely
have air trapped in the valve.
if so now you need to bleed the valve...
Have you driven the vehicle at all since you bled the brakes ?
if you have did you notice the ABS kick in and work as you were stopping..
sometimes that happenes once it does then and only then you go back and rebleed
the brakes using the PV tool .... that screws into were the proportioning valve
warning sensor is located.
