Default Can I have some help with the 12v socket and doghouse??

Hi. This is my first time messing around with any kind of vehicle so forgive me if I'm using the wrong terms. I have 2 Chevy Express 3500's. I'm trying to get the 12v socket and doghouse squared away. Both van only have the wire and connector as shown in the picture. I looked up 12v sockets on Amazon but the prongs on all of them are parallel, I don't see any that look like they'll fit the connectors I have. As far as the doghouse, I have the cover and seal. The prior owner said that I just need to clips but I'm not finding anything online. I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction to find the parts I need as well as let me know if there's anything special that I need to do.

Thanks

You need to hit a self-serve salvage yard. The doghouse is held on with an X-shaped webbed strap set with spring clips on the end. A lower console screws onto it and that has the 12V socket in it. Probably $20 of parts tops.

Thanks I didn't even think to hit up a salvage yard. Will do. I would like a newer 12v. I saw a video where a guy cut the old 12v connector and wired in an updated one. Would that be ok to do?

I'm not sure what you mean; if you get the console that goes on there it should plug in and have what used to be a cigarette lighter socket on it.

I get what you're saying. With a cigarette lighter socket I'd have to continue to buy and use a usb car charger. I'm just trying to eliminate bulk and having to use extra things. If I can I'd prefer to use a USB Car Charger Socket. Here is the video 4:29-5:07
