Express 1500 Head gasket blown
Hi,
My van is Chevy 98 Express 1500, mileage 120,000
Recently I found that internal cooling water leak, and color of engine oil turned to milky, and a lot of white smoke.
Sound likes head gasket has been blown out.
Chevy dealer costs me $1700 to replace the gasket, and another $300 for water pump, If I want to replace at the same time.
Engine still runs fine, no noisy, and powerful
If I spend under $2000, and if it lasts 4 ~ 5 years, I think it worths.
Could someone tell me about reputation of this car? Is this car reliable?
Thanks for your advice in advance

It is definatly a blown head gasket and it should be replaced. I am suprised it has not overheated yet. Why are you replacing the water pump? Im sorry but i can not tell you the reputation of this car as I have not yet owned one. But if it has the 350 in it it is definatly a reliable engine.

Thanks for comment. Water pump seems still OK, but I believe it is consumable. If I have to replace it in the future, it is costly?? That is the only reason I want to replace it at the same time when head gasket replaced...
