Question Frame compatibility

Hi,

I'm the very happy owner of a new to me 2002 Chev Express extended hi top cargo van with a 4.3L. The van only has 68,000km (43,000miles) but it was probably parked in grass and it ended up with a completely rotten frame. That's why I got it for next to nothing.

I'm now shopping around for a replacement frame and was wondering what years of frames would be compatible. I know that the front end sheet metal changed in 2003 but has the frame remained the same? I found an 2004 van with a good frame, 4.8L engine but body is done. Hoping to make one out of the 2. Any ideas if it's a workable swap?

Day 1 of project.

The GM Upfitter manuals provide all kind of specifications about the frame.

You should be able to compare 2002 and 2004 measurements.

Update:
First, again thank you to mountainmanjoe! I read a few of your posts and it is obvious that you know your stuff.

I checked the data and compared the 2002 G217 (what I have) with the 2004 G237. (what the junk yard told me they had) and found out that from a top view, all the body mounts are in the same position which is a good thing. From the side view, the heights of the body mounts differ slightly. This shouldn't be a bid deal since it can easily be adjusted with the correct thickness spacers. The variations are very small.

However, it turns out that the junk yard did not have a 155" wheelbase but 135" so I'm back in the search...

I will keep you posted.
