just purchased a used 95' G30 and need tires to pass safety inspection. Kinda' low on cash so am going the used route. Stock tires are 245/75/16 and i see replacements online but sizes are 265/70/16 and 265/75/16. Ya' think either of these sizes would work? Suggestions?....Thanks

Hi Bongoz,
I also have a '95 G30. It has 245/75/16 which, obviously, were the previous owners choice as a replacement for the originals. I believe the correct size is 225/75/16. 265 seems a bit wide for the factory 6.5" wheel.

...thanks G30man...the 245/75/16 work ok for you? Would like a little wider than the stock 225 but wanna' make sure it doesn't rub anything before my purchase...

Though a wider tire puts more rubber on the ground, it also has more sidewall flex and increases ride height on an already tall vehicle and wider tires are worse in the snow. There's a reason the manufacturer selects a particular size that is based on engineering. The 245s have been fine but I'm going to go with 225s because, in that size, you can get a true light truck highway tire which is designed for the load a G30 can carry. I would suggest that if you really want a wider tire that you look for a 7" or wider wheel. This is the downside of having a one ton van G van - a smaller selection of wheel options. Most of the eight lug 16s out there are pretty ugly.

with respect to wheel options there are some real nice ones out there, but you have to cater your request to what would be available for f250s, Sierra/Silverado 2500s or Ram 2500s. The basic 8 lug wheel is pretty ugly but when you look at truck dress up stuff there are quite few options.
On mine I have 225/16s and when I find an 8 lug alloy wheel nice enough I will put them on.

..thanks for the input folks..i live in Hawaii so snow isn't an issue and i don't haul much except maybe a couple of friends and surfboards..don't want to give up safety or buy new wheels so i guess i'll stick to stock sizes..Aloha
