Hello everyone. I want to start a tour company and just bought a 2006 3500 passenger van. But I'm puzzled. The walk way to back seats is very narrow and yet it has seatbelts crossing the walkway. They are not just a push button, you have to use a screw driver or a key to unlock them, so I'm assuming it's not something passenger are going to do every time they need to get in and out. I'm a slim guy and can squeez under or above those belts to get to the back seats, but what about bigger or older people and ladies...? It seems very incomfortable. And I cannot find any information on this on the internet... no one is writing about it like this problem does not exist. Any advice on how to deal with passengers or belts in this situation or may be I'm missing something? Because people will have to get in/out on every stop we make and will have to struggle through those loops. Thank you.
Anyone? For those who have passenger vans, can you plese share if it bothers your passengers or it it's not a big deal? May be I'm worried about it for no reason.
On the side of each seat there is a small pocket that holds a retainer for the shoulder belt. It will lift the belt a little bit higher when locked into the buckle
Thank you for your responses, really appreciate that! Is there a way to modify it? May be mount a shoulder seat belt to go from the back of the seat instead of the wall? Would it even be legal?
If you're carrying passengers commercially or for hire, you do not want to modify anything relating to safety. The liability would be on you rather than GM.
