please need advice express southern comfort conversion sofa jammed
2002 chevy 1500 express southern comfort conversion
What is the proper procedure to unfold the electric sofa?
like should the sofa be moved forward then down?
Mine top rear back of sofa is jammed into side of van, can’t get back of sofa to go to
Upright position sounded like sofas electric engine is winding down
Where is the electric engine located?
the sofas engine seams to still want to lower the sofa but not raise.
I'll post images of the sofa later.
Thanks for advice

You do realize conversion vans were manufactured by many different companies so unless a member owns a Southern Comfort conversion and reads this post you may not get a quick reply.
Have you tried disassembling the sofa bed? You may discover the problem is simple like a broken guide or something out of alignment.

maybe...
Mine is operated by one electric switch and gets hung up sometimes. I thought it was the seat belts under the seat but I'm not sure. I often have to have someone operate the switch while I go behind the sofa and push/pull until it's free. When mine hangs up, it only moves a little bit, then stops.

update I crawled under the sofa and observered two wormgear type of cables on each side connected to a small black cylinder.
everything appears to be connected correctly like I say the sofa will want to go down just when going up the engine seams to get weak.
maybe this electric sofa engine is a universal part?

Did you search on line? I found Catalog Index - Unique Concepts and at least one more when searching for Southern Comfort conversion vans. Try their support/customer service, or look for parts to see if you can determine what is wrong.

update
I believe one of the two wormgear rods is slitely bent 9remember the van was rearened where the rear quarter buckecled.
time to disassemble and straighten the rod.
for plan B convert to manuel sofa. anyone tried this?
I need more rear cargo/luggage room behind sofa.
thanks TB
