Rollover Sensor for 2010 Express 3500 discontinued. What to do?
I just learned that the rollover sensor on our 2010 Express 3500 we got a couple weeks ago is bad (it threw the airbag light the day after we got it), and I'm being told the part has been discontinued. My mechanic checked the connections and used dielectric grease, but the issue persists. My mechanic said that I could try to find a used one, but that it will probably need to be reprogrammed and that even GM most likely won't be able to do that. According to my dealership, the part number for my VIN is 25845266.
We specifically bought a 2008 or newer because we wanted the extra curtain airbags, and now ours doesn't have any airbags at all. I hate to sell it and get a different one because I just did a decent bit of maintenance on it, it'll be hard to sell without functioning airbags, and I'm sure we will take a hit. I also looked for months before I found what I thought was the right van, so who knows when I can find another. So I am kind of determined to see if I can somehow find a part and get this fixed.
Does anyone have any ideas at all? I'm in South Central Pennsylvania.

I'd suggest 2 things
1) use something like www.car-part.com and find a part from a wrecking yard from the same year and options as your van.
2) There are reman companies out there that will remanufacture your module. You send it in, they take it apart and see if they can fix it. Do your research and find a reputable company.
