Should I junk my G20 van?
I bought a 1995 G20 for $2000 from an absolute scumbag! (Private seller.) The van is perfect inside, and it runs great. There is some rust on the bottom body panels, but I was prepared to have the body fixed, and re-painted. I took the van in for new exhaust, and I was notified that the unibody frame rails have major rust! There are chunks of the frame missing near the driver's side rear wheel (where a crossmember connects). The floor of the van is lightly rusted, but the frame is very bad (in places). I've been told by a friend to not even bother with it, because unibody frame rails can't be fixed! Is this true? Dean from Denver, Colorado.

fix it
fix it if there is steel involved it can be cut and replaced.
2k for the van 4k to fix it beats the price of a new one +ins+reg= 30k
how about a picture

I have rust and rot as well on my 95 G-20. Just like your van it runs fine, but I am concerned with the rust underneath. Most of my rust/rot is towards the front especially in the middle between the 2 front seats. I put a piece of wood over the rubber mat which is under a small piece of carpet. Otherwise one would step over it and you could see the ground through small cracks.
There is some rust from the seats on back, but nothing major yet. I will most likely need to replace the floorboards in the near future.
I agree with frscke1. It is going to be a big repair job, but in the long run it will be well worth it,good luck.
