Steering Gear loose and seeps '03 3500
Washed a quarter inch of caked oil from the frame outside the gear.
It is loose, not really noticeable driving, but the DOT would notice if they looked.
I understand the allegation that wear is where straight-ahead is.
If you tighten it at straight ahead, you'll run out of tolerance toward the locks.
What wears? Does it contain bushings or roller bearings? The last one of these I disassembled would've been in the 1970's.
I recall ***** being used ala a zero-lash screw feed on a milling machine table.
How long has the gear been around, IOW is it the same as ancient gears? RA buyer's guide seems to say 1994
Anyone have FSM pages?
(JY pic, not mine)
Many thanks again to the top, expert advice I've been getting here.
