Default Water hose connections

Where does the other end of this hose connect to?..

Hi guys,
I was replacing my water pump on my 2005 Chevy Express it's a 1500 with a 4.3L Vortec V6 motor. There are 2 water hose connections at the top of the water pump. One I can see comes from the block and connects to the 1st connection on the pump. The 2nd connection I can't see to figure out where it goes. I looking at the photo highlighted in "red" I need to know where the other end is routed to? I can't seem to figure this out. I was doing the oil pan gasket/ timing chain cover and removed the the alternator, and water pump. Can anyone help?

One goes to your heater hose/core, the other to the the bypass. Easier then then doing a newer model GM water pump by far.
