Default 04 Silverado tranny issue

04 Silverado 5.3 4160e tranny.
hello all, yesterday on freeway in cruise control I heard a Big Bang and a hard jerk. All of a sudden I only had 1st and 3rd.
My question is this, how hard is it to rebuild this tranny and is it a broken band? My truck also has the towing button and factory towing package. Should I also change the electronic module and torch converter? The fluid seemed fine, no leaks or shavings.
Thank you, Alann

This might help you decide what to do. And yes, I'd put a rebuilt TC in a rebuilt 4160e.
