It was running fine when I removed it and I had it running after I put it back in. I was setting the timing and I was moving the dist cap and it stalled and I can not get it to run again. After it stalled it had a code of 42 so I put a new ignition module on it and nothing. I have checked and rechecked the firing order and it is all correct. I am getting spark to the plugs and I check the pickup coil and it is good 861 ohms. I don't know of anything else it could be it just cranks and doesn't even try to fire. I even rechecked to see if I was a TDC several times and it is. It is getting fuel.

is the truck equipped with a hei distributor ? sometimes the stater wires break with age ,the oem wire's are short . when the distributor get's moved around when you advance or retard it when trying to start it from scratch .

I think it is HEI it has a separate coil next to the distributor. It is stock 1987 chevy truck w/a 350. Could i still have a spark but it is not strong enough? I pulled #1 plug and I have spark. Is there a way to check the wires? Do I just check to see if they have power from the wires on the coil to the wires on the Distributor?

Hey dcfd470, Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

If you are getting spark to the plugs, how is the

fuel doing? Can you see gas going into the manifolds?

Hi I am getting fuel I can see it coming out of the injectors and I can smell and see it when I remove a plug.

the engine in the vehicle is from another year?
